Nasir Dominates Pojonisevs!

25.6.2009: Danish super middleweight Fawaz Nasir made a successful return to the ring on Friday June 19, after almost a year out with injuries, when he dominated Latvian Ruslans Pojonisevs in Horsens, Denmark.

The fight, on the undercard of Kim Poulsen vs. Obote Ameme, was aired live on TV2 Sport in Denmark, and promoted by Henrik Risum who handles Nasir in cooperation with Fight Production.

Nasir came out strong and controlled the aggressive Pojonisevs with his jab, and mixing it up nicely with hard body-shots and straight right hands...READ ARTICLE

Knesevic Back With (Too) Easy Win!

22.6.2009: Fight Production’s International Austrian & Serbian superwelterweight champion Gojko ‚Gogi’ Knezevic got back to winning ways last Saturday (June 20), but when all was said and done – and that was the case in less than three minutes – it was all rather too easy.

The 29-year-old from Vienna was involved in a punishing battle last April when trying to win the WBC Mediterranean title, which ended with a spectacular 11th round knockout defeat, and now had his first outing since when he appeared on a promotion in Belgrade, Serbia in a scheduled 6-rounder against Hungarian Zoltan Borovics...READ ARTICLE

Willi Fischer Speaks!

12.6.2009: Ring success makes people listen up – and it smoothes the boxer to the point that he likes to give interviews again. With that in mind, Fight Production’s heavyweight star Willi Fischer, fresh of another win on the past weekend, happily sat down with German writer Frank Bleydorn and answered his questions. Fischer, 37-6-1 (24 KO’s), started a serious comeback in 2007 after teaming up with manager Olaf Schroeder and – true to his past – battled through a multitude of problems, namely cuts, injuries and cancellations. But he never lost sight of his goal and now stands on the threshold of his first title fight since five years. Read on what the fighter called ‘De Ox’ has to say...READ ARTICLE

Fischer Dazzles - Wants Köber!

8.6.2009: Putting the potentially career-threatning injury problems, which forced the cancellation of a March challenge to German champion Sebastian Köber, firmly behind him, Fight Production’s heavyweight star Willi ‘De Ox’ Fischer dazzled the 1.400-strong audience last night (June 6) at Neuwied’s Ice Hall, taking apart countryman Werner Kreiskott in four one-sided rounds. The official result went down as a TKO 5, when a dispirited Kreiskott elected to not come out for the fifth round. With the win, Fischer raised his record to 37-6-1 (24 KO’s) and in fact has not lost in almost five years now. The clash headlined a nine-fight bill presented by Punchup Boxing, the company of semi-retired heavyweight Turhan Altunkaya...READ ARTICLE

Nasir Comes Back Tough!

26.5.2009: Danish super middleweight Fawaz Nasir (13-3, 8 KOs) will face Latvian puncher Ruslans “Rugby” Pojonisevs (5-3-1, 4 KOs) on June 19 in Horsens, Denmark. The fight will be promoted by Risum Boxing in cooperation with Brian Mathiasen Boxing, and is headlined by Kim Poulsen vs. Obote Ameme for the UBO Intercontinental lightweight title.

Pojonisevs is a European and two-time world kickboxing champion, and is coming off a first-round knockout victory in his latest conventional boxing bout. One of his three losses as a professional boxer was on an injury, and one was against Swedish amateur standout Cliff Souka, so the 26-year-old from Riga is not used to loosing much...READ ARTICLE

The Ox Attacks Anew!

20.5.2009: “Willi has been responding much better than expected to the physio therapy – we are ready to go again!”, announced Tom Leidenheimer, trainer of Fight Production’s Frankfurt heavyweight Willi ‘De Ox’ Fischer, 36-6-1 (23 KO’s), much to the relief of everyone in the team of the former WBO title challenger.

Fischer was forced to cancel a challenge to undefeated German champion Sebastian Köber last March due to a shoulder injury suffered in his Polish training camp. Now manager Olaf Schroeder has arranged for the 36-year-old to have a testing-water outing on Saturday, June 6 as the feature attraction on a show at the Ice Hall in Neuwied, Germany over 6 rounds...READ ARTICLE

Fischer's Future Still Uncertain!

21.4.2009: The future of German heavyweight comebacker Willi ‘De Ox’ Fischer is still up in the air after injury forced him to pull out of a match against German (interim) champion Sebastian Köber, which should have happened five weeks ago.

“We have just started training again and Willi is tremendously motivated to still get at Köber, but there is still pain in his neck, shoulder and arm and we must simply take it step-by-step, day-by-day,” reports trainer Tom Leidenheimer from their Frankfurt gym...READ ARTICLE

Lion-Hearted Gogi Keeps Head (And Hopes) High!

6.4.2009: He fought like a lion, but still came up short. That is the summary of Gojko Knezevic’ challenge for the WBC Mediterranean superwelterweight championship last Saturday (Apr. 4) in the French city of Rosny Sur Seine, Yvelines, near Paris.

The International Austrian & Serbian superwelterweight champion had to conceed the vacant title to local hero Cedric Vitu when Dutch referee Robert Verwijs stopped the fight in the penultimate round after Knezevic was knocked down for the second time...READ ARTICLE

10.3.2009: Heavyweight Willi “De Ox” Fischer’s German heavyweight title challenge against Sebastian Köber, set for Friday next week (Mar. 20) in Hamburg, is off! That was the shocking news the Frankfurt boxer’s manager Olaf Schroeder had to submit to promoters Spotlight today, after Fischer was left in pains at the end of a sparring session by a squeezed-in nerv in the right shoulder yesterday.

The former WBO heavyweight title challenger was in camp in Warsaw, Poland, working towards his fight with undefeated Köber, which should have been a major step in Fischer’s so far successful comeback...READ ARTICLE

Knezevic Roams Rowards Title Fight!

9.3.2009: Making his debut for new management Fight Production, Gojko Knezevic last night left no doubt about his intentions and motivation, ruthlessly brushing aside Hungarian journeyman Gabor Balogh inside just two rounds in Vienna, Austria.

"Sure, Balogh wasn't much, but he's experienced and more often than not goes the rounds," said a happy manager Olaf Schroeder, and confirmed that the plan is for Knezevic to go straight for a title next.

Suitably for Balogh, the match - promoted by Knezevic' trainer Johann Senfter as the headliner of an otherwise amateur show - was made at middleweight...READ ARTICLE

An Odd Team For Sure: Knezevic Signs For F.P.!

3.2.2009: It probably constitutes the most odd signing made by Fight Production, but that doesn’t automatically mean it can’t work. In fact, International Austrian and Serbian superwelterweight champion Gojko ‘Gogi’ Knezevic has high hopes that him, trainer Johann Senfter and German manager Olaf Schroeder can be a successful team. The pair of Knezevic and Schroeder became acquainted under rather hostile circumstances two and a half years ago, when the now 29-year-old challenged another Fight Production boxer, the semi-retired veteran Gotthard Hinteregger, for the Austrian title. After a pre-fight battle of threats and worse, Hinteregger kept his title via fourth round TKO after Knezevic retired – but the poisonous arrows kept flying in both directions. A rematch was discussed, but never happened...READ ARTICLE
Fischer To Challenge Köber!

Köber recently won the championship in a Spotlight internal box-off against Dieter Roth in Halle/Saale with a knockout in the dying seconds of the fight. Fischer is a professional since 1995 and scored 36 wins (23 KO's) in 43 fights with one draw.  In his only 'world' title shot so far, Fischer lost against the british WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide in 1998 in England...READ ARTICLE

Surprise Win For "Viper" Kovacs!

13.1.2009: Hungarian superwelterweight Attila Kovacs leisurely strolled into Budapest’s Gilda Max Gym last night (Jan. 12), looking for a light workout to keep in shape for bigger things. He ended up in a real ring and picked up a real, albeit easy, win when promoter Zoltan Petranyi asked him to fill in and face career-trialhorse Gabor Balogh! Petranyi, of Profibox Promotion, had planned for one of his upcoming fighters to make his debut, only for the boxer to come down sick just two hours before his scheduled fight!

“Attila is always in shape, plus we needed a win soon anyway,” reasoned German manager Olaf Schroeder, whose company Fight Production manages the classy Kovacs...READ ARTICLE

Fischer Bangs His Way Back Into Contention!

14.12.2008: Frankfurt heavyweight Willi Fischer made a clear statement to all heavyweights in Germany, banging out Latvian champion Edgar Kalnars in the fourth round with a big right hand on the big Klitschko vs Rahman show in Mannheim, Germany on Saturday (Dec. 13). The 36-year-old’s comeback now seems to take up speed, as Fischer succeeded where unbeaten prospects Sebastian Köber (now the new interim German champion), Dieter Roth (who lost for that title against Köber) and Manuel Charr all failed: Stopping the 31-year-old Kalnars from Riga in Latvia.

The night began with a minor nightmare, as no gloves could be found fitting to the huge hands of the popular Fischer, who once fought for the WBO ‘world’ heavyweight title...READ ARTICLE

Arena-Free Fischer Ready To Be "The Ox" Again!

4.12.2008: The decision by Hamburg-based Arena Box-Promotion to pull out of a promotional agreement for a fight against Steffen Kretzschmann has done nothing but spur on a positive-minded Willi ‘The Ox’ Fischer as he prepares to continue his comeback on the Klitschko vs Rahman undercard, Dec. 13 in Mannheim, Germany. The 36-year-old Fischer, 35-6-1 (22 KO’s), will face off with Latvian champion Edgar Kalnars, 18-15 (9 KO’s), over eight scheduled rounds and seems primed for a TV slot on televising channel RTL, depending on how the ‘world’ heavyweight title fight is going.

Williams Disaster Shocks All Of Egypt!

10.11.2008: As is the case more often than not with fighters, Danny Williams has little explanation for what happened to him on Saturday night at Bethnal Green’s (London) York Hall. In what he regarded as a warm-up fight, the British heavyweight boss inexplicable got floored and stopped in eight rounds by Poland’s Albert Sosnowski – and down the drain went a fight that Williams “was so exited about”, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight right next to the Gizeh pyramids in Egypt on November 30 against Francois Botha for the WBF ‘world’ heavyweight crown. Fight Production, who were to stage the Egypt extravaganza in cooperation with Louaa Boxing Promotions, disappointingly called the whole event off today...READ ARTICLE

Age No Barrier To Crazyness From Hinteregger!

22.10.2008: His voice sounded like that of some early-40ies gentleman returning home from a late-summer stroll in the park, just that the words in use made the difference.

“Oh, it was just marvellous to step into that ring and smell the odor of a prizefight again,” sighted seemingly ageless Austrian superwelterweight champion Gotthard ‘The Cougar’ Hinteregger after winning a clear 6-round decision over Hungarian Gabor Balogh on a mixed show in Voesendorf, Austria last Sunday (October 19).

It was the 41-year-old Hinteregger’s first outing since a win last December and lifted his professional record to 31-14-1 (15 KO’s)...READ ARTICLE

Francois Botha: "I Come To Fight!"

The fight takes place in a specially erected arena next to the ‘Great Pyramids’ and a specially designed high-tech lighting display will illuminate the Egyptian monuments to provide a magical backdrop for the ‘Duel in the Desert’.

British writer Graham Pearman caught up with one of the co-challengers, Frans Botha, who gave his thoughts on the fight and also how he sees the state of the current heavyweight division which he describes as a “shambles”.READ ARTICLE

Kovacs, Hinteregger, Ibramov, Hersisia...

13.10.2008: Hungary’s former IBO ‘world’ champion Attila Kovacs took a  huge gamble by venturing to Russia to face Gennady Martirosyan in a 10-round middleweight clash on Oct. 4 – and was forced to pay the price for his audacity when he lost on points. It was only Kovacs’ second career loss and the first in almost six years, but it did nothing to dispirit the 34-year-old:

“I’m not sad or anything, I still know what I can do and I’m ready to go back into the ring anytime!”.

Zoltan Petranyi, the Hungarian heavyweight champion who also promotes and manages, accompanied Team Kovacs to Vyborg, Russia as representative for Fight Production and reports of the fight...READ ARTICLE

Details of the fight were announced confirmed by Fight Production boss Olaf Schroeder who along with Richard Nwoba and Louaa Boxing Promotions will stage the bout in a specially erected open-air amphitheatre right at the foot of the pyramids and the Great Sphinx. It will provide a magical backdrop for the heavyweight clash which will go down in history as the first prizefight ever to take place at the Middle Eastern site...READ ARTICLE

Kovacs Sets Out To Prove He Is World Class!

18.9.2008: Shunned by the European Boxing Union (EBU) (READ HERE), despite being considered a top-ranked superwelterweight by all independent computer ratings, Hungarian class-act Attila ‘The Viper’ Kovacs, 24-1 (17 KO’s), has now set out to prove he’s world class when he dares to face Armenian Gennady Martirosyan, 13-1 (4 KO’s), in the unfriendly confines of Vyborg, Russia on October 4.

Martirosyan lives in near-by St. Petersburg and just like with Kovacs, his sole professional loss came so early in his career, that it can be considered meaningless by now. Kovacs, in fact, is unbeaten in six years...READ ARTICLE

Mercer W6 Hersisia - What The Media Wrote!

Ray Mercer pulled off an upset

8.9.2008: Ray Mercer shouldn’t be fighting at the age of 47. It should be over, and it is, there aren’t any skills left at that age. We could clearly see it in Karlstad but how Richel Hersisia from Holland, 13 years younger, with a glossy record 30-3, 24 KO’s, could manage to get himself into the wrong fight with the former champ, and sink down to the lowest of low to lose on points after six rounds to this former great was a bit of a mystery. Not to take anything away from Ray, he did what he could but Hersisia should have been able to handle Mercer at this stage of his career, but clearly he couldn’t, where does he go from here I wonder? Richel Back To Rocky II For Fine-Tuning!

25.8.2008: Since the last week, Dutch heavyweight banger Richel Hersisia has started the fine tuning for his main event clash with ex-WBO champ “Merciless” Ray Mercer, 35-7-1 (26 KO’s), on Pugnus Promotion’s big Karlstad, Sweden bill on September 5 by re-joining trainer Ralf Rocchigiani (himself a former WBO champ, but at cruiser) in Berlin.

Hersisia, 30-2 (24 KO’s), had started out camp in Duisburg, Germany with Ralf’s younger brother, and fellow ex-‘world’ champion, Graciano Rocchigiani, but wanted to spend the last three weeks with Ralf – called Rocky II in the German media, because he won his ‘world’ title after Graciano – in Berlin...READ ARTICLE

Kovacs Takes It Out On Poor Glofak!

20.8.2008: Undisturbed by the recent discussions about the EBU’s unfair exclusion of superwelterweight Attila Kovacs, the Hungarian scored an easy marking-time win last night, halting hometown journeyman Anton Glofak in three rounds on a LP Promotion show in Sturovo, Slovakia. Kovacs, in improving his record to 24-1 (17 KO’s), took it easy in the first round and was maybe a bit too playful, but put the foot on the gas and duely floored Glofak twice in round two.

After the third knockdown in the next round, Hungarian referee Miklos Döry terminated what essentially was a mismatch. “Yeah, I could’ve possibly finish it earlier,” the 34-year-old Kovacs confessed afterwards, “but I wanted to try a few things in there and was actually enjoying myself.” READ ARTICLE

"Augustin And His EBU Can Kiss My Backside!"

12.8.2008: After the release of the latest set of ratings by the European Boxing Union (EBU), manager Olaf Schroeder severely hit out against the treatment of his Fight Production’s boxers by EBU Ratings Chairman Pertti Augustin of Finland and said that he does not wish any of his boxers to be rated by the EBU in the future.

“If a boxer can’t accept that, then I am sorry I can not manage him, but the scandalous policy that a corrupt person like Mr. Augustin practises and the way he misuses the EBU as a tool to battle his personal frustrations against me is something I simply want to rid myself of,” said Schroeder, “I had hoped that (EBU president) Bob Logist would clean up his house, but he seems to be happy to have...READ ARTICLE
