The
Ring Is My Home...
 |
13.01.06:
Tomorrow, January 14, EBU-ranked
heavyweight Richel Hersisia, 31,
appears live on German television, opening
the SES Boxing show in Aschersleben for
DSF television. While TV in Hersisia’s
home country of Holland still seems at
least a decade behind in discovering
boxing’s broadcasting value, the
reigning Dutch and Benelux and former WBF
‘world’ heavyweight champion is now
targeting the big names of the division
thanks to a promotional agreement with
Universum Box-Promotion. Frank Bleydorn
of www.12Rounds.de,
Hersisia’s new marketing partner, caught
up with the powerpuncher on his arrival
yesterday evening in Germany for a brief
talk. |
Mr.
Hersisia, what can you tell us about your next
opponent Rogerio Lobo?
Richel
Hersisia:
"To be honest, not very much. I know his
record, has had a lot of fights and he fought
around the world."
Didn´t
you see videos of his last fights?
Richel
Hersisia:
"No, but I rarely do that anyway. I watch
boxing on TV as much as possible, but I never
bothered studying tapes of my opponents. I leave
that to them... " (smiles)
That
sounds very self-confident. Does this mean, you
are not worried about the strengths of your
opponents?
Richel
Hersisia:
"You can't be a fighter and then start to
worry! Sure I will be alert, especially with his
experience I have to be. But really worried?
No... "
 |
When
did you start your preparation?
Richel
Hersisia: "I started about six
weeks ago and so far all went well.
However, I definately hope to raise my
level of preparation in the future now
that we work with Universum."
Rogerio
Lobo is a guy, who can fight both at
Cruiser- and Heavyweight. So his weight
won´t be very high. Will this mean an
advantage for you. Or do you think that he
could be very fast?
Richel
Hersisia: "Well, he could be
fast, yes. I don't know, but I am so fit
these days, always fighting around 96
kilos for more than a year now, so if he
wants to run, let him run..."

He
has 38 victories, but against strong opponents
he often looked bad. How do you see that?
Richel
Hersisia: "Hm, going by that, he will
probably look bad against me, right? "
(smiles)
Do
you underestimate him?
Richel
Hersisia: "No, never! You don't
underestimate someone with more than 50 pro
fights! And he has 32 KO's on his record. So he
must have some kind of punch. I have worked hard
and I look forward to fight him - but I never
underestimate anyone."
If
you win, which goals will you have after the
fight?
Richel
Hersisia: "I don't want to say anything
before Saturday. After this fight my manager
Olaf Schröder will work it out with Universum."
Meanwhile
you have 27 pro fights, but on Saturday it will
be only your fourth fight in Germany…
Richel
Hersisia: "Yes, that´s right. So far
it has not been possible to fight here more
frequently. I never minded though, I will fight
anywhere. But where I fight depends also on
other things. The ring is my home."
