15.02.06:
Kenyan
female featherweight Damaris Muthoni today
arrived at Dusseldorf airport, tired after a
long night flight from Nairobi, but happy to be
back in Germany, the country she now
affectionally calls “my home”. She was
greeted at the airport by her trainer Mario
Guedes and several friends she made on her first
visit, before taking off to Aachen, where she
will soon begin training with the former
heavyweight champion for her first-ever main
event appearance in her adopted hometown on
April 8.

“I
couldn’t wait to come back and now I can’t
wait until April! I’m living my biggest dream
and it all started with a simple letter that I
send to Olaf (Schroeder of Fight Production, now
her manager) together with a CD of some of my
fights,” beamed the 29-year-old Muthoni and
added “I can’t thank Mario and Olaf enough
for what they do for me.”
Now
equipped with a record that reads 8-3-2 (4
KO’s), Muthoni is lined up to headline P4P
Boxpromotion’s show in a challenge for the WBF
women’s world featherweight crown with the
whole team optimistic of success. In fact,
Schroeder now admitted for the first time:
“I
never told Damaris, but actually to this day I
never watched one second of the CD she once send
me! My gut feeling just told me this girl could
be a champion.”
