31.08.06: If Fawaz Nasir
(9-0) doesn’t perform well on September 8 in Vejle, it will
not be due to lack of available sparring. After preparing with
WBA # 7 Reda Zam Zam (20-0) and Norwegian Nikita Dubunin (5-0)
earlier, Nasir is now doing the rounds with former European
super middleweight champion Mads Larsen (45-2). And,
according to trainer Brian Mathiasen, and Larsen, things are
beginning to shape up nicely for the 26-year-old Danish
middleweight.
And
when the big gloves and helmet is off, and there is no holding
back, in Vejle, Nasir will need to take advantage of the things
he learn from sparring with a skilled puncher such as Larsen,
because in the opposite corner on September 8 will be a man who
packs a good punch. Szabolcs
Rimovszky from
Hungary brings a record of 12-6-1 in nineteen fights, with ten
wins coming by stoppage. He is, however, not a stranger to
tasting the canvas himself, and promoter Henrik Risum sees this
as a good indicator that the spectators in Vejle will get an
entertaining fight:
“Rimovszky
is one of those guys who come to fight from the first bell, and
it almost always results in him knocking his opponent out, or he
gets knocked out himself. He is a dangerous opponent for Fawaz,
because he can really punch, I have seen this with my own eyes,
and he is specifically selected to, hopefully, make it a good
fight to watch. Fawaz must be able beat Rimovszky to move ahead
in his career, make no mistake about that, but if he takes him
lightly, Fawaz could easily be the one laying on his back”,
says Risum.

Rimovszky’s
six losses have all come to high-calibre opponents: Allan
Jones (8-0-1 at the time), former IBO, WBF and Commonwealth
champion Richard Williams (18-3-1 at the time), current
European champion Amin Asikainen (11-0 at the time),
Spanish contender Pablo Nevascuez (21-1 at the time),
former British champion Tony Dodson (17-3-1 at the time)
and Polish prospect Piotr Wilczewski (7-0 at the time).
The
Hungarian is coming off a win on August 25, and will thus be in
tip-top shape for the encounter with Nasir.
In
one of the other featured bouts of the evening, 2004 Olympic
quarter-finalist Sam “Rocky” Rukundo (7-0) will
square off with former Belarussian champion Valery Kharyanov
(13-10) over eight rounds. Debutant featherweight Kim
“Golden Boy” Poulsen takes on another Belarussian, Dmitry
Ryabikov (7-9), while opponent for light heavyweight Kim
Jenssen (7-0) will be Siarha Navarka (6-10) and Emiliano
Casal (6-0-1) gets Vitali Martynov (9-4).
