8.1.07: 12rounds,
the marketing company of former three-time WBC supermiddleweight
champion Markus Beyer, has now published a portfolio of ringside
pictures of heavyweight Richel
Hersisia’s
smashing knockout of Brazilian Adenilson Rodrigues last year on
their client’s website www.hersisia.com.
The photos are courtesy of Marianne Mueller, probably the most
prolific boxing action photographer in Germany, where the
Universum-promoted contest of the Dutch KO artist took place.
After
taking a deserved rest over Christmas and New Year, the
32-year-old ‘Dutch Sonny Liston’ is now eager to return to
his German trainer Torsten Schmitz. “Whatever happens, I will
go to Berlin later this month to continue working with Torsten.
(Manager) Olaf (Schroeder of Fight Production) told me he will
soon have a date from Universum and I plan on making 2007 a big
year,” said Hersisia from his home in The Hague.
In
the meantime it emerged that Universum Box-Promotion had offered
Hersisia a shot at European heavyweight king Vladimir Virchis
for December 2, but Schroeder confirmed that he declined: “For
Rodrigues, Richel prepared seven weeks, so obviously wanted to
see his home for at least a week afterwards. That would have
left him with just four weeks to get ready for the most
important fight of his career. I don’t want to put Richel into
such fights just for the money, because I know he has a real
shot when fully prepared. But I must state that Universum has
been absolutely great, they accepted our position, and we have
actually had talks already about prolonging our cooperation with
Richel. I think they slowly start to realize that Richel is for
real, but of course he ultimately has to prove this in the
ring.”
