17.1.07: Undefeated
Danish middleweight Fawaz Nasir (10-0, 5 KOs) will face
his careers biggest challenge, when he takes on former IBF
Intercontinental super middleweight champion Malik Dziara
(28-3, 20 KOs) on February 17 at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg,
Germany. The fight will be contested at middleweight over eight
rounds.
Nasir has not
fought since he beat Andrzej Butowicz of Poland this past
September, but he doesn’t feel the long interval between then
and February 17 will hurt him, saying:
“It has been
the plan for a long time that my next fight will be a big
challenge for me, so my mindset and training have been focussed
on that all along. This is a very important fight for me, and I
will show up in the best shape of my life. I know I can beat
this guy”.

Former IBF and
NBA Intercontinental champion Malik Dziara (28-3)
Dziara (Photo),
originally from Belarus but based in Germany for the last six
years, is a veteran of seven title fights, while Nasir still has
his first to look forward to. The three losses have come against
former WBO Interim world champion Mario Veit, Britains Nathan
King in England, and most recently top-rated Russian Denis Inkin.
So far he has boxed at super middleweight and light heavyweight,
but is now moving down to middleweight in the hopes of a new
start at 32 years of age. He will without a doubt be a tough nut
to crack for Nasir, but Henrik Risum, who co-manages Nasir with
Olaf Schroeder of Fight Production in Germany, doesn’t feel
like its too tough a nut:
“Malik D is
a very strong and good boxer, but I really believe that Fawaz
has a great shot at beating him, and thereby catapult his career
to new heights and towards his dream of a European title fight.
I managed Lolenga Mock when he fought Malik, and I still think
Lolenga beat Malik only to be cheated of the decision. Lolenga
did it, and Fawaz can do it too. Lets just hope that this time
the judges are not looking the wrong way when Fawaz connects and
the “right way” when Malik connects…”

Undefeated
Middleweight Fawaz Nasir (10-0)
Nasir has been
in full training for two weeks already, and will, among others,
be sparring with former European super middleweight champion
Mads Larsen. Its time for the 27-year-old Aarhus-boy to show
people what he is capable of.
The
show will be promoted by Sport Events Steinforth, and
broadcasted live on DSF television.
