Nasir vs. Zbik: Fawaz Rounds Off Sparring, Ready To Rumble!
BACK

12.2.2007: The DVD’s have been studied, the sprints have been done, the bag has taken enough pounding, and around 100 rounds of sparring have been completed. Fawaz Nasir (10-0, 5 KOs) is ready to take on Sebastian Zbik (16-0, 7 KOs) for the WBO Intercontinental middleweight title on Friday (February 16) at the Fight Night Arena in Cologne, Germany.

The fight between undefeated up-and-comers will be broadcasted live in Germany on PRO7, a channel also accessible in Denmark, and the TV station is doing a big effort to promote the event. While Zbik is frequently seen on various German talk shows and sports programs these days, PRO7 last week had a five-man camera crew in Denmark shooting training footage and interviews with Nasir.

The Dane just finished his sparring, which accumulated to more than 100 rounds, starting with former world title-challenger and European super middleweight champion Mads Larsen, and finishing off with WBA/WBO # 6 Reda Zam Zam and Norwegian prospect Nikita Dubunin.

Nasir and team will leave for Germany Monday (February 12), and attend several official functions to further promote the event. Also on the agenda will be a casual meeting with one of Nasir’s sponsors for the fight, sports nutrition company TAXOFIT. The TAXOFIT connection was set up by former three-time WBC world champion Markus Beyer and his company 12rounds, who is acting as sponsor-agent for Nasir.

Along with his wife, the in Germany very famous singer Daniela Haak, Beyer will be ringside supporting his Danish client:

“We are very happy to be working with Markus and Daniela, and of course proud to have a German boxing legend as part of our team” says co-manager Henrik Risum, and continues: “Fawaz will even be boxing in trunks that were originally made for Markus, so lets hope they bring us luck…”
