Hinteregger
boxed superbly, winning every round and showering Dicky with an
assortment of punches from every angle. However, Dicky, now
4-29-2 (1), was nothing but tough - he had only suffered six
losses inside the distance. The Slovak always looked for
surprise punches, but except on one occasion, when he drew
Hinteregger into a macho-thing exchange, impressed by taking the
veteran's precise shots. There was a funny exchange in the
Austrian corner after the sixth round, when 'The Cougar' moaned
"What the hell is keeping him up? My hands already hurt
from hitting him so much!", to which manager (and cutman)
Olaf Schroeder replied: "Nah, that's just age creeping in.
Just go on punching!".
Now
was that the final curtain, as previously stated by Schroeder?
Both the German manager and Hinteregger did not want
confirm this for sure. "On Monday, I am back in the gym!,"
Hinteregger said without neither Schroeder nor trainer Johann
Senfter protesting. "Let's put it this way: I've had talks
with the Austrian Boxing Federation president Willibald Palatin
and he is very fond of the idea of Gotti finally bowing out in
early '08 with a bigger event, maybe even some kind of title
fight. That would definately be a great opportunity to finish a
career in real style, so, yes, we do seriously consider this,"
said Schroeder.
