"The Viper" Silently Sneaks Back!

25.2.2008: It almost escaped public attention, but it seems that Hungary’s IBO ‘world’ superwelterweight champion Attila ‘The Viper’ Kovacs has lost non of his poison as he celebrated a successful debut for new management Fight Production on Tuesday, February 19 at the Gilda-Max Gym in Budapest.

The 33-year-old Kovacs returned to action after nine months out and stopped compatriot and former Hungarian title challenger Janos Petrovics, who dropped to 10-12 (6 KO’s), in four rounds, knocking his opponent down two times in the process.

The fight was the main event of the show promoted by current Hungarian heavyweight king Zoltan Petranyi and televised live by Sport 1. Kovacs’ new record now stands at 22-1 (15 KO’s). Manager Olaf Schroeder was obviously happy with the result, saying:

“I must thank Zoltan Petranyi for his great cooperation, he will surely breath new life into Hungarian boxing. That’s also what Attila wants and now that he’s back, its time for bigger challenges!”.
