Schroeder explains the decision, which was made amicably, as
both boxer and manager were emphasizing:
“It is not just that I am of course disappointed with the recent
string of losses,” he said, “but also with some things that went
on behind the scenes. For his last four fights, Cristian changed
his trainers, which I feel can’t be a good thing. When he came
over from Curacao (where Frias compiled an undefeated record),
Cristian thought he was ready for the best in Europe and
declined further build-up fights – now he wanted them!” |

“So unfortunately, we had the same plans, but different roads,
so maybe it just wasn’t meant to be and it may be better for
both of us to go our own way now.” However, Schroeder also
expressed certain sadness, because “Cristian is a good guy, we
never had any personal problems and I still think he’s a good
fighter.”
Frias, who after two years with Fight Production now sports a
still respectable 20-4-2 (16 KO’s) record, was also
complimentary: “I thank Olaf for everything he has done for me
and I accept his decision. I wish him all the best. I hope
someday, with God’s help, I will demonstrate that this (the
losing streak) is nothing but a very disappointing time in my
career.” |
