Knezevic Back With (Too) Easy Win!

BACK

22.6.2009: Fight Production’s International Austrian & Serbian superwelterweight champion Gojko ‚Gogi’ Knezevic got back to winning ways last Saturday (June 20), but when all was said and done – and that was the case in less than three minutes – it was all rather too easy.

The 29-year-old from Vienna was involved in a punishing battle last April when trying to win the WBC Mediterranean title, which ended with a spectacular 11th round knockout defeat, and now had his first outing since when he appeared on a promotion in Belgrade, Serbia in a scheduled 6-rounder against Hungarian Zoltan Borovics. However, the man from Budapest showed little appetite for battle as Knezevic came out meaning business from the start. A right cross and a left uppercut deposited Borovics on the canvas and although he got up, Knezevic went for the finish. After two further knockdowns, the referee counted a demoralized Borovics out before the bell could ring to finish the opening session.

‘Gogi’s’ trainer Johann Senfter was not too happy with the quick ending, saying: “A more experienced opponent would have been a much better choice, because although we won, we didn’t gain anything here. But ‘Gogi’ is ready again for bigger things, that is for sure!”. Knezevic improved his record to 15-2-1 (6 KO’s.
